Not medical advice
All content on BloodTypeCalc.com, including calculators, charts and articles, is provided for general educational purposes. It is not medical advice and does not create a clinician–patient relationship. Always seek the guidance of a qualified healthcare professional with any questions about your health, your pregnancy or a medical condition. Never disregard professional advice or delay seeking it because of something you read here.
Calculators cannot determine blood type
Our calculators show which blood types are possible under the standard ABO/Rh model and the range of probabilities across parental genotypes. They cannot tell you what a specific person's blood type actually is. Blood type can only be confirmed by a laboratory test.
Not for parentage
Blood type is not a paternity or maternity test. Rare variants such as the Bombay phenotype, cis-AB and weak D, as well as typing errors and chimerism, can produce results that appear inconsistent with the standard model. Never draw conclusions about parentage from blood types; only accredited DNA testing can address such questions.
Not for transfusion decisions
Compatibility charts on this site are simplified educational summaries of ABO and RhD compatibility. Real transfusion decisions involve antibody screening, crossmatching, additional blood group systems, product type and clinical judgment, and are made only by qualified professionals.
Pregnancy
Information about Rh factor in pregnancy is general. Your own care, including blood typing, antibody screening and any Rh immunoglobulin, is determined by your obstetric provider based on your individual circumstances.
Emergencies
If you think you may have a medical emergency, call your local emergency number or go to the nearest emergency department immediately.
